The Supervisors I spoke to at American Vacations, Marriott and the Atlantis all are telling me to call the other and they should be able to assist me, however they aren't able to assist in resolving the additional $700 charge to add family members to a room that is already paid for. They refuse to take any responsibility for the fact that I was NEVER informed that there would be any additional charges or fees to add them to the hotel, nor did anyone ever tell me I wouldn't earn Marriott points. The most frustrating thing is that all American will only say they are sorry but there is nothing they can do. However, I would have the cancellation fee, which increases the trip to over $800. In actually considering this option, it is amazing but the trip would cost me today exactly what I paid and I would get Marriott and American Airline points. The only suggestion from both Marriott and the local hotel is that I should cancel the existing reservation and re-book to get the Marriott points. After spending almost 5 hours today between calling American Airlines, their Vacation desk, the Marriott reservations, as well as the hotel directly, no one is willing to assist with a vacation that is already costing over $4000, without food and using points for 2 airline flights. Unfortunately, as I was on a business trip overseas and having returned a little over a week ago and trying to get ready for our vacation at the end of the month, I called today to find out that not only am I going to get charged an additional $700+ to add them to the room, I will also not be earning any Marriott points either. They told me it was no problem and that I could call anytime to add them to the hotel reservation later on. I called the vacation hotline and advised them that I wanted to book, however, only needed 2 airline tickets, as I was going to use frequent flier miles for my husband and other daughter's tickets. I should have known if it looks too good to be true, it is. It seemed like a no brainer to book our vacation to Atlantis Bahamas, especially as they also had a deal with my company if I booked on-line thru a specific link. I have always loved their Advantage program and last year got the credit card.

I have always tried to fly AA even when there are very few direct flights from Newark. I have flown with American Airlines for almost 25 years, being quite close to a Million Miler and Executive Platinum shortly.
